Design and Technology Curriculum Statement

Children will design and make products that solve real and relevant problems. They will consider their own and others’ needs, wants and values. They will acquire a broad range of subject knowledge using maths, science, computing and art to help them. Children will learn how to take risks; they will become resourceful, innovative and enterprising. They will evaluate past and present design and technology to develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. We aim to enable the children to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world.

Design & Technology Progression Map

Year Two have been learning all about Textiles and made puppets. They researched existing puppets, then designed, created and evaluated their own puppets. That’s the way to do it!

Year One learned about structures. The Billy Goats in the story ‘The Billy Goats Gruff’ need a new bridge – Can Year One help? The children researched bridges then designed and created their own bridge. Was their bridge good enough for the Billy Goats?

In Year Six – In Design and Technology we have been experimenting with pully wheels and drive belts to study rotational movement.
